This Test Kit Measures Your Insulin Level

Insulin is an anabolic hormone produced and stored in pancreas. It promotes glucose uptake, glycogenesis, lipogenesis, and protein synthesis of skeletal muscle and fat tissue. It helps in transportation of glucose from the blood to within cells and helps regulate the blood glucose levels. It is the most important factor in the regulation of plasma glucose homeostasis.

Carbohydrates that you consume after meals get broken down into glucose and other simpler sugars. These are then absorbed into blood and cause the blood glucose level to rise. As glucose diffuses into the cells, blood level decreases and release of insulin by the pancreas decreases. This stimulates the pancreas to release insulin into the blood to regulate and balance the insulin and glucose blood levels.

Insulin helps to absorb blood glucose into liver, fat and skeletal muscle cells.  High insulin levels are often indicative of developing insulin resistance and pre-diabetes.  On the other hand, low insulin levels may also be associated with increased risk of diabetes, pancreatic diseases, and hypopituitarism.  Therefore, it is important to monitor your insulin levels frequently to predict your developing diabetic and other health risks so that the risks may be mitigated via diet, exercise, and/or weight management.

If one’s pancreases does not create enough insulin to balance it with blood glucose levels, it can cause several diseases.

A high level of insulin can lead to:

·         Cushing syndrome

·         Insulinomas

·         Obesity

·         Insulin resistance (Type 2 Diabetes)

·         Acromegaly

·         Fructose or galactose intolerance

A low level of insulin can cause:

·         Diabetes

·         Pancreatic diseases (e.g., chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer)

·         Hypopituitarism

Therefore, it is mandatory to monitor your insulin levels frequently in order to refrain from either of the two cases.

Insulin Level Measurement

Our simple saliva-based glucose solution test kits measure the amount of insulin in the blood. It allows individuals to easily and conveniently test frequently to understand their glucose changes due to food and exercise to help provide positive feedback and allow individuals to better personalize the optimum healthy lifestyle for them.
